the ramblings of a girl with endometriosis
So I'm pretty over being in pain, as most of us are. You could tell me to stand on one foot and spin in a circle with my tongue out to cure my pains and I probably would! At this point, I'm so desperate to feel even slightly better that I would try anything!
A while ago I came across this video by BuzzFeed:
I was so intrigued that I started searching for people in my area who specialise in this alternative form of therapy.
I sent this email to every person in Christchurch who does Reiki and Crystal Therapy:
"Hi, My name is Jasmine and I have pretty bad endometriosis. It is ruining my life. Do you think you could help me? I look forward to hearing back from you. Jasmine."
Within a couple of hours I had an email back..
The next day I met with Nati. We had a chat over a cup of tea and I instantly felt calm and relaxed around her. She radiated good vibes so I was happy to go through the first session of Reiki with her.
Reiki is a healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient's body and restore physical and emotional well-being. Basically it's putting good healing energy onto someone.
I'm just going to put this out there. I was pretty skeptical before I went in but I felt that it was worth the try. I wasn't sure what to expect. I didn't even really understand what Reiki was. The worst that could happen is that nothing would change.
I entered Nati's Reiki room and it was gorgeous. It gives off a beautiful and calming vibe. I laid on the bed and we started.
First Nati aligned my Chakras; again, something I had not much understanding of. Turns out they are the energy centres of our bodies in which energies flows through. I like to think of them as invisible rechargeable batteries. All of mine were pretty open (She could test this by holding a pendulum over the chakra and if it circles your chakra is open, if it stays still, chakra is closed.) All of my chakras were pretty open apart from my sacral chakra (below the belly button), solar plexus chakra (stomach area) and my third eye chakra (middle of forehead.) When she held the pendulum over those chakras it stayed dead still. I found this interesting as it made a lot of sense. The areas on my abdomen are where I have the most pain and blockage of the third eye chakra can be caused by depression.
Once all my Chakras were open the reiki began. Nati placed her hands over certain points of my body. The first thing I noticed is that it was incredibly warm.
As the session progressed I became more and more relaxed. The most relaxed I had in a long time to be honest.
I started to notice almost pulling, pulsing sensations. Not the sore kind though. As she held her hand over my throat I felt like there was something being drawn out of me.
After the session I felt great. Crazy relaxed and had a very positive mindset. I even emailed Nati saying "OMG! I feel amazing! Thank you!" and booked myself in for another session.
In my second session we did tried some gemmotherapy (crystal therapy.) Nati explained to me that the crystals make the reiki stronger thanks to their magnetic forces. The second Reiki session was a lot more intense. It sounds somewhat crazy but I felt the energy surging out of my body. Again, afterwards I felt great. I was pretty emotional but Nati told me that would be expected.
I haven't noticed any changes in my pains since starting Reiki but I have noticed that my mindset has been a lot better. I have felt a lot less angry and frustrated about being sore and the situation I am in. Even though the pain is still there, I am coping with it better and I think that is thanks to the Reiki and Crystals. I would totally recommend reiki to anyone! I think it's something that could benefit anyone as long as they went in with an open mind.
I am definitely going to keep going to see Nati. I am going to try aim to go have Reiki done every week.
Has anyone else tried Reiki and Crystal therapy before? How did you find it?
