living life yellow.
the ramblings of a 21 year old
Hello. Yes I broke my resolution that I would write at least one blog post each week. I didn't last week, and probably the week before that. I just haven't really known what I wanted to write about until now.
Life is weird. I came to this conclusion whilst I was in the car with one of my best friends. As we were driving we were talking about how much we have both changed as people in the past year (we became friends around this time last year.) Together we both agreed on the fact that we are both different people now to when we had first met. The main topic we were discussing the fact that we were both seeing assholes at the time who broke our hearts, which seemed like a big deal at the time, but looking back at it now, we both laugh about it. We were talking about how sometimes something negative has to happen for you to decide what you want and don't want in life. I like to think of it as you are the main character in a movie. In every movie the main character tends to go through some problems, but in the end everything turns out ok. This theory got me through when I was really unwell and loosing hope.
Life is also weird because I never thought I would be in the position I am today. When I was at high school I chose to opt out of doing speeches and get a failed grade rather than stand up in front in front of a class and talk. Now, I am going to get paid to stand in front of potentially auditoriums full of school students and talk to them about periods! I am also looking to start uni in July, which is something I have always said I would never do. I am terrified to start, but so excited at the same time.
Something I have also been thinking about is what inspires me. Things that keep me going when I want to give up.
Number one is the inspiring women I have in my life. I think it is so important to have people who are positive role models in your life and I'm lucky to be surrounded by amazing chicks; Here are just a few of them. Maddie, who is only 18 is 2nd best in the whole entire world at trampolining. I have never met someone with so much drive for something! My red cross/bounce co-ordinator Amber is super woman. Not only does she work for bounce and deal with all our crazy ideas, but she's also a youth worker and a mum! I know that she would drop everything to help one of us. The dream team, consists of 6 other ladies who I met through working at my last job. Our age range is 19 - 28 years old which means we can all share life advice with each other. Isabella is the most boss ass b*tch I know. There is no other way to describe Isabella. She is so hardworking and will never back down from a challenge.
Number two has been listening to The Greatest Showman soundtrack on repeat. I've seen the movie twice now and I would go a third time. Every single song in the movie is so inspiring and will make you want to get up and do something with you life, plus get up and sing/dance. My favourite is This Is Me, which really sums up the whole movie. The line that stands out most to me is "I am brave, I am bruised, this is who I'm meant to be, This is me." This song really is an anthem for those who are outcasts, those who believe they don't belong. If you have not heard this song yet, you need to watch this clip and go see the movie. You will not regret it
Number three is picturing where I want to be in the future. Sounds lame but it really works. Set goals for yourself and chase them. I'm described by my boyfriend as a very full on person. I don't just do something a little bit, I have to do it to the best I can. I'm harnessing this most likely annoying trait of mine to use it to motivate me.
Hope this blog posts inspires you to think about what inspires you ;)
